Could Low T Be Causing Your Symptoms?

Low testosterone, or hypogonadism, is diagnosed when symptoms are paired with consistently low testosterone levels on blood testing.

A total testosterone level below 300 ng/dL is commonly used as a clinical cutoff, and we repeat testing on a separate morning to confirm the result.

You may have low T if you’re experiencing:

How TRT Can Restore Balance to Your Body & Mind

TRT can bring low testosterone levels back into a healthier range, helping restore functions that may be affected when your hormones are out of balance.

If treatment is appropriate for you, TRT may help you:

TRT Treatment Methods Your Plan May Include

We offer several ways to deliver testosterone depending on your lab results, lifestyle, comfort level, and how often you want to manage treatment.

Your TRT plan may include any of the following:

Testosterone Injections

Testosterone cypionate or enanthate is given on a regular weekly schedule to keep your hormone levels within your target range.

Topical Gels & Transdermal Patches

Topical gels and patches deliver testosterone through your skin each day, offering a needle-free option that fits into your daily routine.

Hormone Pellets

Long-acting testosterone pellets are placed under the skin and slowly release hormones over time, typically lasting about 3 to 6 months.

Is TRT Right For Your Goals?

TRT may be a good fit if low testosterone is affecting your energy, sex drive, mood, strength, or body composition and your lab results confirm that your levels are consistently low.

Dr. Kwak and our nurse practitioner Tina will review your symptoms, medical history, lab work, and health risks before recommending treatment.

TRT may be right for you if you:

  • Have symptoms like low energy, reduced libido, brain fog, or loss of strength
  • Have consistently low testosterone on morning blood tests
  • Are in good overall health
  • Are comfortable with ongoing lab work and follow-up care

TRT may not be right for you if you:

  • Have active or suspected prostate cancer or breast cancer
  • Have an elevated red blood cell count or hematocrit
  • Have severe sleep apnea that hasn’t been treated
  • Recently had a heart attack or stroke
  • Are actively trying to preserve or improve fertility
  • Have other health concerns that may make testosterone therapy unsafe

Depending on your goals, we may recommend additional treatment options like hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss or hair restoration to support your TRT results.

Every Step of Your Treatment Process, Explained

Consultation & Symptom Review

We’ll talk through your symptoms and review your medical history, medications, sleep, fertility goals, heart health, prostate history, and other factors that could affect whether TRT is right for you.

1
Physical Exam & In-Depth Lab Testing

We’ll evaluate your blood pressure, BMI, waist circumference, prostate screening when appropriate, and morning lab work to confirm whether your testosterone is low.

A full TRT workup may include:

  • Two morning total testosterone tests on separate days
  • Free testosterone and SHBG to better understand your active testosterone levels
  • LH and FSH to determine why your testosterone is low
  • Prolactin to check for another possible cause of low testosterone
  • Estradiol for a baseline before treatment
  • CBC and hematocrit to monitor red blood cell levels
  • PSA when appropriate for prostate screening and monitoring
  • TSH and free T4 to rule out thyroid issues that can mimic low T
  • Metabolic and cholesterol testing, including markers like A1C, fasting insulin, and lipids
2
Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your lab results, we’ll recommend the right treatment method, dose, and schedule for your health and long-term goals.

We’ll show you how to administer your treatment correctly, discuss habits like resistance training, protein intake, and sleep, and explain the side effects to look out for.

3
Ongoing Follow-ups & Monitoring

We’ll schedule your first followup around 6–8 weeks to review how you’re feeling and recheck markers such as testosterone, CBC, hematocrit, and estradiol.

From there, follow-ups are generally scheduled every 3–6 months during your first year and every 6–12 months after that. We adjust your dose as needed to support your energy, libido, mood, body composition, and long-term safety.

Some men notice changes in energy, libido, mood, or well-being within the first several weeks.

We typically schedule your first follow-up around 6–8 weeks to review your symptoms, repeat labs, and adjust treatment if needed.

TRT isn’t a one-time treatment, and most patients continue therapy as long as it’s improving symptoms and remains appropriate for their health.

Your dose, delivery method, and follow-up schedule may change over time based on your lab results and how you respond.

Yes, TRT can reduce sperm production and may make it harder to conceive while you’re on treatment.
