Real Results From Advanced Technology
Different hairlines need different tools. ARTAS iX® uses robotic mapping for precision and consistency, while NeoGraft® gives Dr. Kwak more hands-on control for detailed shaping and targeted coverage.
ARTAS iX® is the high-precision robotic option. It uses digital imaging to map the donor area and help select strong follicles.
Best for:
- Precise donor-area mapping
- Consistent graft selection
- Reducing human guesswork
- Larger areas that need steady, even coverage
- Patients who want the most technology-driven option
NeoGraft® is the flexible, hands-on option. It uses an automated handpiece while giving our team more control over placement and design.
Best for:
- Detailed hairline shaping
- More targeted thinning areas
- Adjusting placement as the plan takes shape
- Creating density where precision styling matters
- Patients who need a more customized, hands-on approach
Technology Supports the Process. Dr. Kwak Designs the Result.
The tools matter, but they don’t decide where your hairline should sit, how each graft should be angled, or how density should be distributed. Those choices come from Dr. Kwak’s 20+ years of experience and his understanding of how hair grows, how faces change, and what makes a result look natural.
Both options use your own growing hair and avoid the linear scar of traditional strip surgery. Dr. Kwak will recommend the method that best fits your hair, goals, and long-term plan.

I went to lumen a year ago for a consultation for a hair transplant and immediately felt comfortable and welcomed there. Since then, during the transplant and after they have been great in every aspect. Would recommend them everytime and continue using their services moving forward.

What Happens at Every Stage of Your Hair Journey
A strong result starts with the right plan. Dr. Kwak evaluates your hair, scalp, donor area, and goals to decide whether you’re a candidate and which method fits best.
Before Your Procedure
Meet with Dr. Kwak to review your hair loss pattern, donor hair, scalp health, desired coverage, and hairline goals. From there, he’ll determine whether you’re a good candidate and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
During Your Procedure
FUE is performed with local anesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel pain during treatment. Individual follicles are removed from the donor area and carefully placed where more fullness is needed. There is no strip removal, no stitches, no staples, and no linear scar. Most procedures take about 4 to 8 hours, and you go home the same day.
After Your Procedure
You’ll receive clear aftercare instructions to help protect your grafts as they heal. Most patients return to light daily activities within 1 to 2 days, and the donor area typically heals in about a week.
Hair Transplant Recovery Timeline
Days 1–3
Mild soreness, tightness, swelling, redness, or light scabbing may occur around the treated area. Minor discomfort typically improves within the first few days.
Week 1
The donor area usually begins to heal, and redness or scabbing around the grafts should gradually improve. During this stage, avoid touching, scratching, or picking at the grafts.
Weeks 2-4
You may be cleared to return to more normal routines, but heavy sweating, strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, and tight hats should still be avoided until Dr. Kwak gives you approval.
Around 3 Months
Early new growth may start to appear as your transplanted follicles enter the next stage of the growth cycle.
Around 6 Months
Hair typically begins to look fuller and more noticeable as growth continues to develop.
Around 12 Months
Final results are typically visible, with fuller coverage and a more natural-looking hairline.

Is a Hair Transplant Right for You?
A hair transplant may be a good fit if you want a permanent hair loss solution that uses your own growing hair. During your consultation, Dr. Kwak will work with you to determine whether FUE makes sense.
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have thinning areas or a receding hairline
- Have enough healthy donor hair on the back or sides of the scalp
- Want fuller coverage using your own hair
- Are in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations about growth and final results
- Want to avoid the linear scar associated with strip surgery
A hair transplant may not be right if you:
- Have very limited donor hair or are completely bald
- Have active scalp irritation, infection, or untreated skin concerns
- Are losing hair rapidly and may need stabilization first
- Want instant results
- Are not ready to follow aftercare instructions
If FUE is not the best next step, we also offer other hair restoration treatments, including PRP, scalp micropigmentation, and specialized women’s hair loss treatments. Dr. Kwak will help you understand which approach fits your hair, goals, and stage of hair loss.

What Patients Want to Know Before Their First Visit
Why is FUE a better hair transplant option than FUT?
FUE is often preferred because it removes individual follicles instead of a strip of scalp.
That means no stitches, no staples, no linear scar, faster recovery, and more freedom to wear shorter hairstyles.
Are hair transplant results permanent?
Hair transplant results are meant to last because the follicles come from areas that are more resistant to hair loss.
Once the grafts heal, the transplanted hair should continue growing naturally in its new location. While aging or future hair loss can affect surrounding hair, the transplanted hair is designed to provide long-term coverage.
How many grafts will I need?
The number of grafts you need depends on your hair loss pattern, donor hair, and coverage goals.
During your consultation, Dr. Kwak will evaluate your scalp and explain how many grafts may be needed to create a natural-looking result.
Will my hair transplant look obvious?
A well-planned FUE hair transplant should look natural, not obvious.
Dr. Kwak places grafts to match your hairline, growth pattern, and desired coverage. Because new hair grows in gradually, results tend to appear subtle over time rather than all at once.
Ready for a Hairline That Feels Like You Again?
You don’t have to keep covering, styling, or working around thinning hair. With modern FUE technology, Dr. Kwak can help you understand what fuller, natural-looking coverage could look like for you.
