Your Journey From First Consultation to Final Growth
Before Your Procedure
You’ll meet with Dr. Kwak to review your hair loss, donor area, scalp health, and your desired coverage, so he can determine whether FUE is right for you and plan your hair restoration procedure.
During Your Procedure
Dr. Kwak and our highly skilled hair technician team perform your transplant under local anesthesia. We remove individual follicles from the donor area and place them where you need more density, with no strip removal, stitches, staples, or linear scar. Most procedures take 8 to 10 hours to ensure the highest yield possible and the most natural-looking results.
After Your Procedure
You’ll go home the same day with instructions for protecting the transplanted follicles, and most patients can return to light daily activities within 1–2 days.
Hair Transplant Recovery Timeline:
Days 1–3:
You may notice redness, swelling, soreness, tightness, or light scabbing around the treated areas.
Around Week 1:
The donor area should be well into the healing process, while redness and scabbing continue to fade.
Weeks 2–4:
You can usually return to more of your normal routine, but you’ll still need to avoid heavy exercise, sweating, direct sun, and anything that could disturb the grafts until you’re cleared.
Around 3 Months:
The first signs of new growth may start to appear as the transplanted follicles begin producing hair.
Around 6 Months:
Your hair should look noticeably fuller as more growth comes in.
Around 12 Months:
Most patients can see their final result, with fuller coverage and a hairline that looks natural with the rest of their hair.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Hair Transplant?
FUE may be a good fit if you have a receding hairline or thinning areas and still have enough healthy donor hair to support transplantation.
Dr. Kwak will evaluate your scalp, pattern of hair loss, donor area, and goals before recommending treatment.
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have thinning hair or a receding hairline
- Have healthy donor hair along the back or sides of your scalp
- Want to restore coverage using your own follicles
- Are in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations about your final results
- Want to avoid the linear scar associated with strip surgery
A hair transplant may not be the right fit if you:
- Have very little donor hair available
- Have advanced hair loss without enough follicles to move
- Have an active scalp condition or irritation
- Are losing hair quickly and may need to stabilize it first
- Expect immediate fullness
- Can’t follow the recommended aftercare guidelines
If FUE isn’t the right approach, we may recommend other options like exosome treatment, PRP platelet rich plasma, women’s hair loss treatments and scalp micropigmentation depending on your type and stage of hair loss.

Common Questions Before Your Consultation
Why is FUE a better hair transplant option than FUT?
FUE removes follicles one at a time rather than taking a strip of scalp, so there’s no long incision, stitches, staples, or linear scar.
It also typically allows for an easier recovery and gives you more flexibility if you prefer to wear your hair short.
Are hair transplant results permanent?
Transplanted follicles are usually taken from areas that are naturally more resistant to hair loss, so results are meant to last.
Your existing hair can still thin with age, so Dr. Kwak may recommend treatments to help maintain the hair around your transplant.
How long will it take to see final results?
You may notice new growth around three months, and more noticeable fullness develops around the six-month mark.
Most patients see their final result at approximately 12 months as the transplanted hair continues to grow and mature.
How many grafts will I need?
Your graft count depends on the amount of hair you’ve lost, the strength of your donor area, and the amount of coverage you want to achieve.
Dr. Kwak will examine your hair during your consultation and determine the right approach for your plan.
Will my hair transplant look obvious?
No, Dr. Kwak plans your transplant to blend with the hair you already have, paying careful attention to your natural hairline, growth direction, and density.
Because the transplanted follicles grow in over several months, the change develops gradually rather than appearing overnight.
Take the First Step Towards a Fuller Head of Hair
