BOTOX is a popular cosmetic treatment that can help give you a youthful, refreshed appearance. BOTOX is a form of botulinum toxin, a natural substance that temporarily relaxes the muscles. It’s injected into the skin to relax the muscles and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment is a safe, effective, and quick treatment that produces dramatic results. The Lumen Center is one of the leading BOTOX providers in the Bryn Mawr, PA area.

Shanna Injecting

Botox FAQ

Benefits

In addition to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging, Botox is also effective for treating a gummy smile and can be used to better define your upper lip (known as a lip flip) and create a brow lift effect. It has also been known to treat other conditions, such as migraines, excessive sweating, and crossed eyes.

Another benefit is that there is no downtime, and it has a very low risk of side effects.

Procedure Process

BOTOX injections work by blocking the release of chemicals that cause facial muscle contractions. When the muscles are relaxed, it temporarily smooths the overlying skin. As a result, the injection wards off fine lines and wrinkles, and the skin retains a flattened, softened appearance. It is most commonly used to treat frown lines (the 11’s between the eyes), forehead lines, crow’s feet, smile lines, and a variety of other areas of the face that produce wrinkles.

When you come in for your consultation, our expert aesthetic nurse practitioner will assess your skin and determine where the injection would be most effective. They will also discuss your desired results and any potential risks associated with the procedure.

If you decide to proceed with the treatment, our injector will disinfect the areas and administer the BOTOX using a very fine micro needle to make a series of quick injections into the underlying muscle. Most patients who come to our Philadelphia-area office experience no pain with injections or describe it as a quick pinch. You may experience some minor swelling or bruising after the treatment, but this should dissipate within a few days.

The results of a treatment typically last for three to four months. To maintain your results, you may need to repeat the treatment every few months.

Who's a Candidate?

You may be a good candidate if you are bothered by the appearance of facial wrinkles and would like a rejuvenated, youthful appearance. It’s also important that candidates are in good health and have realistic expectations. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not candidates for BOTOX.

If you’re interested in BOTOX treatment, it’s important to consult with a qualified medical professional to find out if it’s right for you. Contact The Lumen Center today to learn more about this life-changing treatment.

Botox smooths wrinkles by relaxing the muscles under the skin. The injection wears off in about four months, normal muscle function resumes, and wrinkles return. While the normal aging process in the months it is active can lead to signs of aging, Botox doesn’t make you look older than you would without the injection.

Botox works by blocking neurotransmitters, the chemicals that attach to nerves, from sending signals that tell muscles to contract. As you metabolize Botox, the neurotransmitters start to send messages again, thereby contracting your muscles.

In general, certain facial expressions and physical activity exercise your facial muscles and can make it wear off faster. Anything that harms the skin, like smoking or sun exposure, can worsen the appearance of wrinkles but won’t impact the longevity.

Two units of Botox can effectively treat fine or faint wrinkles, usually around the eyes or other areas where the skin is thin. This dose is considered very small and will only last about two months.

While each patient differs based on the extent of their wrinkles and underlying anatomy, 20 units of Botox are recommended for frown lines and forehead lines. Injectors will administer five four-unit injections to target the specific muscles causing the lines.

Yes. On average, Botox injections wear off after four months. The number of units received and your underlying metabolism will influence the duration of their effects.

Once you discontinue the injections and it wears off, your face will return to its pre-injection appearance. You may look older compared to your appearance, but you won’t look any older than you did before your treatment.

Hair Transplant Bryn Mawr

Hair Tech

A hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from a donor area (typically the back of the head) to recipient areas that are bald or thinning. It is primarily used to treat male- and female-pattern baldness (also known as androgenetic alopecia).

There are two primary methods of hair restoration: follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). In FUT, a doctor will remove a section of the scalp on the back of the head containing several thousand individual hairs. These hairs will then be transplanted to another part of the head. However, it also leaves a noticeable linear scar where the strip of hair was removed.

In an FUE procedure, doctors will gently remove individual hair follicles from the donor area and transplant them to the affected areas. FUE is the most advanced technique in the industry and the only method we use at The Lumen Center.

The Lumen Center is one of the premier hair transplant providers in the Philadelphia region, and we’re the only provider of the ARTAS iX® robotic technology in the Philadelphia area. We’re also one of only 5 practices in the entire country to offer both the ARTAS and NeoGraft® Systems, giving you the best minimally invasive options for hair restoration in one place.

Hair Transplant FAQ

Benefits

A hair transplant can restore your hairline, fill in thinning areas, and restore your confidence in your appearance. Specifically, a follicular unit extraction (FUE) transplant offers these benefits:

  • Very safe, minimally invasive, and relatively minor procedure
  • Minimal bleeding and fewer complications than with the “strip” method
  • Performed with local anesthetic and patients experience minimal to no discomfort
  • No scalpel incision, no sutures, and quick recovery times
  • No plugs or linear scar
Procedure Process
A hair transplant procedure usually takes around four to eight hours to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated. The first step is to numb the scalp with a local anesthetic to help minimize any discomfort during the procedure.

The ARTAS iX system uses a high-definition stereoscopic vision system, robotic arm, and AI algorithms to identify and select the optimum hair follicles from the donor area for transplanting. Then, the physician-guided robot takes those healthy follicles and implants them in the recipient site. NeoGraft utilizes an automated handpiece, also providing patients with little to no discomfort during the hair transplant procedure.

After the procedure, we’ll provide post-care instructions and follow you carefully to ensure you’re healing during the recovery process. Downtime is minimal, typically over a long weekend. You’ll start to see new hair growth within 4-6 months and full results at the one-year mark.
Who's a Candidate?
Nearly all Philadelphia patients who suffer from alopecia are good candidates for the ARTAS iX, NeoGraft Automated FUE system, or both. In general, you are a good candidate for a hair transplant if you have:
  • A stable pattern of hair loss
  • Good quality hair follicles that will be resistant to future hair loss
  • Enough donor hair to provide coverage for the desired area
  • Realistic expectations for the results of the transplant

When you come in for a free consultation, we’ll ask you a series of questions, provide a hair and scalp analysis, and discuss all of your hair loss treatment options. To learn more about whether you’re a good candidate for this treatment, contact The Lumen Center today.

Liposuction FAQ

Benefits

Laser Lipo offers many benefits over traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction surgery is typically a more invasive procedure that results in noticeable scarring, a long recovery, and doesn’t have skin tightening benefits. laser Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure and a safer option performed under local anesthesia. This procedure uses innovative technology that results in faster healing and little to no scarring.

Laser Lipo also allows you to achieve better results than traditional liposuction. Because it uses laser energy, it can target and break down fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues or nerves. This approach helps ensure your results are smooth and natural looking, and heat from the laser also provides additional skin-tightening benefits.

Procedure Process

Non-Invasive Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure is performed with local anesthesia. Small nicks in the skin are made (about the size of a freckle), and heat from the laser softens the fat cells, which are then gently suctioned from the body. The heat from the device results in less bleeding, swelling, and bruising. It causes you to heal faster, and there are no stitches. Recovery time is typically over a long weekend, and there is minimal scarring.

Who's a Candidate?

A good candidate for this procedure is in good health and relatively close to their ideal weight. Laser Lipo is not a weight loss treatment and is meant to address localized pockets of fat and help contour the body by removing unwanted fat. It can also address areas of your body that are not proportionate to your body overall.

To learn more about Smart Lipo and find out if you’re a good candidate, schedule a free consultation.

Smart Lipo is worth the money based on the natural appearance of the results and their overall effectiveness. Additionally, the procedure has a shorter recovery time than traditional liposuction because the provider uses smaller incisions. You can also save money on a potential skin reduction procedure because the Smart Lipo laser tightens skin as it liquefies fat.

The procedure is painless because your provider will administer local anesthesia to numb the area. You will likely experience moderate discomfort, swelling, and bruising during the first few days of recovery, but providers usually prescribe painkillers to help you manage the pain.

Most people return to work and begin low-intensity exercise within two or three days of the procedure.

Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. The amount of fat extracted depends on the patient because it spot-treats stubborn areas of fat that persist despite proper exercise and diet. Doctors generally recommend that the ideal candidate for any liposuction procedure be within 30% of their goal weight.

The results are permanent as long as you maintain a consistent diet and exercise routine. Weight gain can result in the return of fat to the areas you treated with Smart Lipo.

No. The treatment stimulates collagen production. This vital protein is essential for your skin’s health and tightness. In the weeks and months following the procedure, your skin will tighten as protein production ramps up, the body heals, and swelling goes down.

Brazilian Butt Lift Bryn Mawr

Brazilian Butt Lift Wilmington

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL Surgery) is a minimally invasive procedure that helps improve the shape and size of the buttocks. It is a popular option for those who are looking to enhance their curves and add more volume to their backside. The procedure involves removing fat from other areas of the body, such as the abdomen and love handles, and then strategically injecting the fat into the buttocks. This can help create a fuller, rounder appearance.

The Lumen Center is a premier provider of BBL surgery Lift procedure in the Philadelphia area. Our vast experience and attention to detail produce natural-looking yet not “overdone” results.

BBL Surgery FAQ

Benefits

The Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is a popular choice for those looking to improve the appearance of their buttocks. This surgery offers many benefits, including:

  • A more youthful and perky appearance
  • Improved self-confidence and self-esteem
  • A curvier silhouette
  • Improved body proportions
  • Clothes fit better and look more flattering
Procedure Process

The procedure involves the transfer of fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks. After local anesthesia is administered, we use gentle liposuction to harvest unwanted fat from a donor area (typically the abdomen or love handles).

During the fat transfer process, the surgeon precisely injects the fat into the buttocks in tiny, discrete amounts to sculpt your bottom. This technique requires artistry to achieve a uniform, smooth, and rounder butt. Your results will be natural-looking and symmetrical with your overall body shape.

After the procedure, we’ll apply a compression garment to minimize swelling and bleeding. We’ll also give you detailed post-procedure care instructions and a schedule of follow-up appointments to ensure your healing is progressing.

Who's a Candidate?

A good candidate is in relatively good shape and has enough fat to harvest for an enhancement. A BBL can also help men and women who want to improve the appearance of flat or sagging buttocks, correct symmetry issues, or have a more youthful figure after a significant weight loss.

If you think you might be a good candidate for a BBL, reach out to Lumen today to learn more about this procedure.
