Chemical Peels in Philadelphia, PA

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and brighter than the old skin.

Peels are uniquely formulated with a precise combination of acids and vitamins working together to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores, and build collagen and elastin to tighten skin. They are extremely effective in reducing or eliminating hyperpigmentation including melasma, the most difficult pigmentation issue to correct.

Types of Chemical Peels

We offer two types of chemical peels at LUMEN: the VI Peel® and the PCA Professional Peels. Both chemical peels are used for skin rejuvenation, but they differ in their active ingredients, intensity, and specific benefits.

What to Expect During a Peel Treatment

A chemical peel is very quick and painless. Depending on the condition of your skin, our aesthetician might begin with a light microdermabrasion or dermaplaning treatment to remove dead skin cells. This will allow for better penetration of the peel solution. We’ll cleanse the skin and apply the peel treatment. You may feel a tingling sensation, but it will subside within a few minutes. We’ll make sure you are fully informed about aftercare products and instructions.

Benefits of the VI Peel®

The VI Peel contains a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. The VI Peel is versatile and can improve many different skin concerns. It’s effective for all skin types, including dark skin. Benefits of this treatment include:

VI Peel Recovery Process

Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel. After your treatment, your skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red. On day 2, you will start to peel with heavy peeling on days 2-4. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. By day six or day seven you will be done peeling and the results are dramatic. Peel results will last as long as skin is maintained. There are no restrictions. We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. A daily moisturizer will help heal the skin and reduce irritation, and sunscreen is highly recommended.

Benefits of PCA Professional Peels

Professionally applied peel solutions assist in the shedding of dead skin cells, paving the way for healthier skin cells to emerge. This process unveils deeper layers of fresh and healthy skin. With regular monthly treatments, you can expect a more even skin tone, reduced acne, enhanced appearance of aged skin, and a radiant complexion.

Peels are proven safe for all skin types, and professionals certified by PCA are skilled in determining the right treatment combination for your skin for the maximum benefit. The effectiveness of professional peels is amplified with proper care before and after the treatment, which involves preparing your skin prior to the peel and providing it with necessary care post-treatment.

PCA Peels Recovery Process

These peels effectively exfoliate the skin’s surface layers and dissolves dead skin cells. This results in renewed skin with little to no peeling, flaking or downtime. PCA Peels have no downtime, and they’re perfect for those with an active and busy lifestyle.
