Mini Face Lift Philadelphia

Do you feel youthful and vibrant on the inside, but your face doesn’t reflect how you feel? If you’re looking for a naturally rejuvenated look, the mini facelift is worth considering. Also known as a mid face lift, it produces noticeable but not overly dramatic results. And over the past few decades, facelift surgical techniques have become more effective, less disruptive to lifestyles, and safer than ever.

What is a Mini Face Lift, and Why Choose The Lumen Center?

A mini facelift is designed to reverse sagging skin and muscles on the lower face and neck. It’s less comprehensive than a full facelift (or rhytidectomy), with smaller and fewer incisions, less complexity, and a faster recovery. It is designed to reposition sagging facial tissues into a superior location where they used to lie. The procedure often rejuvenates the lower two-thirds of the face and can be performed together with a neck lift (neck liposuction). The results can make patients look five to seven years younger.

At The Lumen Center, our doctors are renowned for their artistry, expertise, and for producing stunning results. Dr. Thomas Spalla is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who performs the mini facelift to recreate a more youthful appearance while maintaining a natural and refreshed look.

How Does Mini Face Lift Surgery Work?

A mini face lift is an effective and safe procedure that involves the following steps:

Step 1 – Anesthesia: The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you should not feel any pain during the process, except for a slight prick when the anesthetic is administered.

Step 2 – Incision: The facial plastic surgeon makes a well-camouflaged incision around the ear to minimize visibility.

Step 3 – Tightening and Volume: Underlying tissues and muscles are resuspended and repositioned to increase volume in the checks. By elevating and tightening the underlying muscle of the cheeks, the mid-face has a more youthful look to it with improved definition. If additional volume is needed, fat is harvested and injected into areas with volume loss.

Step 4 – Closing the Incision: The incisions are meticulously closed with sutures.

Am I a Candidate for Mini Facelift Surgery?

The mid face lift procedure is for healthy men and women with moderate signs of aging, including minor sagging skin in the cheeks, drooping jowls, or wrinkles in the neck area. You should not have this procedure if you smoke or have underlying health conditions that put you at a higher risk for complications during or after the surgery.

A mini lift does not address the forehead, brows, or eyelids but may be combined with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or Botox, fat or filler injections to enhance the upper face.

Mini Facelift Surgery: What to Expect During Your Procedure

As with any procedure, we aim to provide as much information as possible so that you can weigh the benefits and risks and make the best decision for you. Below are some additional details about the procedure:

Procedure Length: The mini face lift procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours to perform.

Anesthesia: You’ll be kept comfortable the entire time with local anesthesia.

Side effects: Side effects include swelling, bruising, and numbness. They usually subside within a week.

Risks: The mini facelift procedure is generally considered safe. While the risks are very rare, they include possible bleeding, infection, prolonged swelling and bruising, nerve injury, and adverse reactions to anesthesia.

Our facial plastic surgeon will review all the risks with you and answer any questions you have during your consultation at The Lumen Center.

Mini Face Lift Recovery: What to Expect

A mini face lift is an outpatient procedure. You’ll come to our office for surgery and return home the same day. Since you’ll still be experiencing the effects of anesthesia, someone will need to drive you home.

Initially, you may require prescription pain medication to help you rest comfortably and alleviate any discomfort. Within a few days, many patients no longer require prescription pain medication and can manage any discomfort with over-the-counter medications.

The most common side effects after facial plastic surgery are tenderness, bruising, and swelling. These side effects are temporary and will begin to subside a few days after your surgery and fully resolve in one week. Most patients can resume normal day-to-day activities in one week and can exercise again in two weeks.

Our team will provide extremely detailed post-care instructions and frequently check in with you. We’re always available should you have questions or concerns.

How Much Is a Mini Face Lift?

The price of a mini face lift can vary depending on the surgeon’s experience and the region where you’re having the procedure. Typically, a mini facelift is less expensive than a traditional full facelift. If you’re pairing this procedure with another treatment, we’ll factor this into the pricing as well. At LUMEN, costs are all-inclusive, so there are no hidden fees. During your free consultation, we’ll review the detailed pricing and your customized treatment plan. We also offer financing and affordable monthly payments through CareCredit and other financing agencies.

Procedures That Complement a Mini Face Lift Surgery

Depending on your goals, you may combine your mini face lift with other surgical and non-surgical procedures for complete facial rejuvenation. Other cosmetic procedures to consider:

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) – This procedure targets the signs of aging around the eyes and helps correct drooping or sagging eyelids. It can also address bags under the eyes, puffiness, excess skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

Neck Lift (liposuction of the chin, jowls, and neck area) – The Lumen Tight is one of our most popular procedures and tightens the lower face for a redefined neck and jawline.

Complete Natural Face Lift – The Lumen Lift combines the Lumen Tight with fat transfer to other areas of the face. This minimally invasive cosmetic surgery procedure tightens and adds volume to the face to rejuvenate and revitalize your appearance.

Botox and Fillers – Botox and cosmetic fillers are a quick and non-surgical way to restore a rejuvenated look. They can address areas of the upper face, such as the forehead and around the eyes, to increase volume and smooth wrinkles. Botox and fillers can also extend your facelift results.

Laser Skin Resurfacing – CO2 laser resurfacing has long been considered the gold standard. It’s known for reversing wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, acne scars, and other signs of aging. Laser skin resurfacing and a good skin care regimen will help enhance the results of your mid face lift.

Mini Face Lift Frequently Asked Questions

The procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete.

The goal of a mini facelift is to lessen wrinkles and elevate the cheeks. You won’t appear overstretched or pulled taut. The goal is to give you a subtly refreshed, natural-looking appearance.

Many different types of facelifts are available, and it’s important to understand the differences. Most people think of a traditional facelift when they consider this plastic and reconstructive surgery. During this procedure, the surgeon will work to eliminate excess facial skin, remove fat deposits, and tighten any facial muscles that have started to sag. It is a more invasive procedure and has extensive recovery time.

A deep plane facelift is an advanced surgical facelift procedure designed to tighten the underlying layer of connective tissue beneath the skin known as the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system). At the same time, it lifts and tightens the loose skin covering the cheek and lower face. It’s an effective procedure with long-lasting results, but also associated with long recovery time.

The mini facelift procedure is an alternative plastic surgery procedure ideal for patients who are just beginning to show the first signs of aging. The mini facelift softens jowls and the nasolabial folds, restores volume, and smooths facial wrinkles. This procedure is less invasive and involves fewer incisions, perfect for busy professionals who want to maintain their youthful appearance.
The mid face lift is typically sought out by men and women in their 40s and 50s since it is less invasive than a full facelift and ideal for addressing lesser signs of aging. However, there’s no specific age requirement for facelift procedures, and the right time for this surgery can vary depending on your skin condition and personal goals.

Our experienced facial plastic surgeon takes care to place the incisions strategically where the resulting scars are not noticeable. When possible, incisions are placed within creases and along the hairline, so they aren’t easily visible.

While lifts produce long-lasting results of up to 10 years, the natural aging process continues. However, the procedures can effectively turn back the clock, and the outcomes can be maintained with proper skincare, a healthy lifestyle, and potentially future touch-up procedures.
