Meet Dr. Thomas Spalla

Dr. Spalla uniquely combines a solid foundation of general surgery and facial plastic surgery with artistry and skill that achieves excellent results for his patients.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Spalla performs a broad range of body contouring and facial plastic surgery procedures. He brings his signature aesthetic procedures to The Lumen Center – blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), buccal fat removal, and the mini face lift. He is also well-versed in advanced body contouring techniques and performs liposuction and other cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Spalla worked closely with Dr. Kwak to become in expert in the distinctive “Lumen” approach to body contouring procedures that produce natural-looking, aesthetically pleasing results.

As an educator, Dr. Spalla’s care philosophy is to empower his patients with information and foster shared decision-making. Patient safety is extremely important to Dr. Spalla’s practice, and he has learned invaluable ways to ensure his patients receive the safest, highest level of care while producing great results.

Education, Training & Experience

Dr. Spalla received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health. Dr. Spalla went on to complete his internship in general surgery and residency in head and neck surgery. He completed fellowship training accredited by American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The McCollough Institute.

Dr. Spalla has been in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area for more than a decade in both private practice and academics. Dr. Spalla was integral to the growth of the Division of Otolaryngology at Cooper University and its creation of the latest otolaryngology residency in the country in more than a decade.

Dr. Spalla has a strong background in teaching and was a curriculum developer for Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and continues to lecture nationally on topics in facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology. Additionally, Dr. Spalla has published more than a dozen papers, written several chapters, and co-authored a textbook on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery (available on Amazon).
